Update thoughts

Well, this blog seems to be reverting to it’s original form again; mostly personal poker related updates for me to keep in mind.
And right now I’m still pretty much only playing the super turbo SnGs. A little PLO, occasional ring games when I find some people that I know playing and I’ll sit down for social reasons as much as anything else.
But the super turbos are still fun, and regularly cashable. I’m up to 76, ITMing 36 and ROI currently at 28%. There’s a lot that appeals to me right now. The brevity, the shove/fold intensity, the simple shove/fold decisions, the ITM and ROI rates. Obviously I’m not multi-tabling yet or I’d have played a lot more, plus I haven’t had much poker time available or I’d have played a lot more since they only take a few minutes.
I haven’t yet missed ITMing 4 in a row, and this overall ITM rate is comforting. I think back to my post about how I used to structure my Ilsewars computer games so that I had a 60% win rate, ITMing close to 50% just feels nice. And recently the 1sts and 2nds have started to pick up so that it’s getting even between 1st, 2nd and 3rds.
Because of the ROI and because I have more than enough bankroll I should be moving up to higher buyin ones. But because I really get comfort from the ITM rate and because I’m quite a bankroll nit when it comes to playing tournies on an ongoing basis (I’m much less adverse to playing something just once) I’m not inclined to make the move yet.

One thing that I didn’t think about until this morning is that many of these bad players are the same bad players I saw when I played $10NL. This would explain the A9o that raised a limper in the first hand, then called my shove (KK; my second 9th place finish when an Ace flopped), or in the second orbit of another game the big stack who limp/called A5o UTG when I shoved another KK (this one held up). The level of competition is not brilliant so I should be cashing regularly.
