by PokerAnon ~ October 12th, 2009. Filed under: $ 25nl x 6+ tables of FR.

450 hands of 8 or 7 x 25nl. What concerns me a bit is how physically tense I was. I tried holding my breath just to stop the lung/diaphragm tension that was to the point of making my breathing tight and trembly and the rest of my body had various tension symptoms as well. Maybe too much coffee before a morning session? I wasn’t in the ideal poker frame of mind but I had free time and I haven’t been playing much so I opted to make a go of it. At first I was going to play 10nl because of my lack of poker focus but then I thought that’s silly so I joined the waitlists for about 12 tables of 25nl, joined 8 but got off one that shrunk and then closed.

14.8/9.9, W$SD of 46.2, EV of $34.51 and bb/100 of 28.44 so I’m still running good at least. Started the session paying off a short stack who raised UTG with my AA when I opted to flat hoping more players might come along. I raised his flop bet on a K63 two tone flop only to find that he had open raised 63o. I’m a little confused as to how EV is calculated as this was the only hand that was all-in during the session and I thought that those were the only hands used to calculate EV.

Below, the opponent is 39/12/0.8, though early on he didn’t seem quite so weak and took one hand away from me postflop because he had position, so with this hand I bet down for value, though by the river I wasn’t overly enthusiastic about it. My bet sizing is somewhat transparent, but at $25nl I don’t think that it matters too much. Maybe the bet sizing encouraged him. When I sat down he had a big stack, but by the time I left he was playing with 60 bbs.

Later in the session, different table, player is 12/12/inf, c-bets 100%. I opt to flat AJo in position. On the flop I consider raising the dry flop. On the turn I think again about raising, but now because he’s tight I scare myself because he could be holding AK/AQ and I just want to get to showdown. River I snap called because I had already decided I was going to showdown, but the bet size looks suspicious.

Late in the session, opponent is 27/8/5.0 with a steal percentage of 33 so he’s probably somewhat positionally aware. I think my stats were standard TAG on this table and the steal was around 30% so not outrageous.

I know that button versus blinds the range is wide but I was really surprised at the end of this one given his stats, my stats and his actual holding. On the river I put him on at least a decent Ace after his turn checkraise and river bet so I tried to figure out what the most I could get away with as a raise might be.

Against a known good player, and without the flush draw, and if it’s not 3 handed I give this up on the turn with the check-raise ’cause this is playing like he has a set. But here he’s not known to me as a good player, I have the flush draw and it’s button versus blind. From his perspective I think it’s way too aggressive unless he’s pretty sure I’m a blind stealer that just can’t fold. He has at best a bluff catcher so there’s no reason to build the pot, nor to bet the river after I’ve call his turn raise, nor to call my 3 flush river shove with just bottom pair on the flop. But boy, it’s nice to shove over a river bet with the nuts.
