I know I wasn’t going to post non-poker activities in here, but this is poker related, somehow, and I want to figure out why. I’m toying with the idea of taking a distance education course in criminology in January. Somehow I feel that part of my interest lies in my poker interest, although I’m not clear on how/why.

Risk taking? Greed? Psychology? Hard statistical basis? Ethics? Communication? Group think? Personality / greed / communication thrown against the background of statistics? I’m not sure whether I’m thinking the psychology /communication /statistics study would help my poker playing, or whether my interest in those areas just naturally find an outlet in both areas.

I think my area of interest would be in the sociological / psychological / statistical / ethical areas rather than applied theory / law. And, you take my current occupation and throw it against a criminology landscape and the obvious comes up. I don’t know if that’s an area for me to look into, but I’d have the basic background to be capable of it.
