PokerStars, on Facebook

For the past six days I’ve been playing the PokerStars.net app on Facebook. I’m up to level 150 or something, and just got a 24hr 3x multiplier as my day six bonus. A multiplier of what base numbers I don’t know, but supposedly something is being multiplied.

It all began last week when I got sick and stayed home. I had some downloaded shows to watch on my computer, so I wasn’t bored, but I like to multitask, and can’t just watch. Normally what I’d do in this situation would be to run one or two instances of Zoom poker while watching, but I had Facebook open and I remember hearing about PokerStars on Facebook somewhere, probably in the PokerCast podcast. So I searched, and found it, and started playing.

It’s a nice running flash app, with cash, tournament, sit-and-go, and Zoom tables. I started at the cash tables, got bored, and went to the 10/20 Zoom tables. Just open shove the top 4% hands preflop. I went to the 100/200 tables after I got the bankroll up to 50,000, and it’s much more loose-passive there, more like standard mid-level play money tables, I guess. The players still don’t know what they’re doing, but now they’re afraid of losing what they have managed to accumulate. The SnGs seemed similar as well, but I don’t have the patience to even consider putting myself through the torture of a tourney.

I still haven’t figured out what the purpose is supposed to be; I see offers to buy more chips, but I don’t see things to buy with the chips other than on-site trinkets.

So why am I up to day six? Partly because I’m still sick-ish and watching more of the downloaded programs, partly because I’ve almost always got Facebook open at home for Lexulous games anyways, partly because it’s PokerStars, partly to see what the daily bonus is, and partly ’cause enjoy the experience of dominating without trying.
